Join municipal staff, community volunteers, regional partners and others for a discussion of environmental initiatives that are strengthening our communities across the North Shore region. Presentations will include stormwater and water quality protection, flood resilience and ecosystem restoration and land use planning tools. to help our towns and cities restore and protect our natural resources. Boxford’s Superintendent of Public Works John Dold and Conservation Agent Ross Povenmire will describe their town’s efforts to implement the PIE-Rivers Action Plan.

Water Quality Monitoring in the PIE Rivers Region
Kaitlyn Shaw, Science and Restoration Program Manager for the Ipswich River Watershed Association and Steering Committee member, will provide an overview of existing water quality monitoring efforts across the Parker, Ipswich, and Essex watersheds, and host a panel discussion with regional project partners. The panel discussion will focus on what is being sampled, how it is being used to inform management, and how the PIE-Rivers Partnership can strengthen water monitoring programs regionally.

Advancing Restoration and Climate Resiliency through Land Use Planning
Ariel Maiorano, Assistant Coordinator of Mass Audubon’s Shaping the Future of Your Community program, will present tools and programs to help guide land use across the region and inform how can towns be proactive about protecting and preserving their aquatic resources.
